Mayo Clinic's Center for Innovation:
Think big, start small, move fast
The role of Mayo Clinic's Center for Innovation is to transform the experience and delivery of health and health care with a patient-centered focus. It offers a multidisciplinary team to turn innovative ideas for medical practice into practical solutions that change how patients receive and engage in health care — a medical transformation.
Bold and Forward Thinking
The Center for Innovation team is dedicated to addressing the issues of health care today, keeping an eye on the future and laying the groundwork for emerging trends and technologies, and medical breakthroughs.
We start with big ideas around people's needs, frame them as opportunities, define and refine the concepts, and move fast to validate tangible models that can be scaled.
We are a highly interdisciplinary team of designers who use human-centered design to create innovative products and services for Mayo Clinic. Each member of our team has a strong background in human-centered design which is complimented by additional skills in other specialties, including service design, user experience, architecture, industrial design, graphic design, human/computer interaction, and more.
Service designers work on a wide variety of projects to meet the needs of patients and transform the experience and delivery of health and health care. As a service designer you will be in the field regularly, interacting with patients, families, nurses, doctors, administrators, researchers, and desk and support staff — a complete range of people who make up the health care system. Lastly, you will collaborate and partner with a dynamic team of internal project managers, administrative assistants, innovation coordinators and other designers, as well as external Mayo systems engineers, software development engineers, statisticians, business analysts and scientists.
