Responsibilities
The Department of Emergency Medicine is seeking to hire additional Emergency Medicine Nurse Practitioners and Physician Assistants to join our regional practice in SEMN. The SEMN Region includes ERs in Austin, Albert Lea, Owatonna, Cannon Falls, Red Wing, and Lake City. Our current need is mainly in the Albert Lea, MN and Austin, MN Emergency Medicine departments; however, you may work in the other sites in the future. These positions provide the opportunity to join and further develop high quality health care delivery teams with commitment to practice, education and research. The EDs have an annual volume of 17,000 visits/year in Albert Lea & 18,500 visits/year in Austin with adjacent urgent cares serving 30,000 annually. NP PAs coverage 8 and 12 hour shifts alongside an EM physician colleague in Austin and Albert Lea.
The NP PA serves as an independent provider, collaborates with the physician and works with a variety of other healthcare professionals. The NP PA will provide comprehensive assessment, diagnosis, ordering, conducting and interpreting diagnostic tests, prescription of pharmacological agents, and patient education. The NP PA will also perform a variety of procedures including laceration repair, I&D, and lumbar puncture, etc. Our practice is unique in that we start with an onboarding process that assesses your skillset in order to provide the proper training that’s tailored specifically to you. Mayo Clinic values the skills and expertise of the NP PA in Emergency Medicine and our goal is for you able to practice safely and confidently as a solely provider in one of our critical access hospitals. Qualifications
Nurse Practitioner: Masters prepared graduate of an accredited school of nursing and Nurse Practitioner program. Current Minnesota RN and APRN license and certification as a FNP
OR
Physician Assistant: Graduate of accredited Physician Assistant program with current PA certification by NCCPA and registration as a PA by the Minnesota State Board of Medical Practice.
An unrestricted prescriptive authority in Minnesota, (Minnesota Board of Medical Examiners and DEA). BLS, ACLS (CALS and PALS or ATLS) certifications are preferred by the time of starting the position and are required by completion of orientation.
Emergency Medicine Fellowship, or 2 years of Emergency Medicine experience is strongly preferred.
