Position descriptionMidwifery is growing at the Mayo Clinic Health System in Eau Claire, Wisconsin! We are seeking 3 Certified Nurse Midwives to join our 6 midwives as we transition to an integrated team-based model. Midwives will provide prenatal care for low and moderate risk women in the clinic, and intrapartum care for all women in labor and delivery, in collaboration with our physician colleagues. An obstetrician is always available for assistance as needed and for management of high-risk medical conditions. Approximately 1100 births a year occur at our hospital, with an anticipated volume of 650-700 births for the midwife team.
Mayo Clinic midwives are independent providers practicing at the top of their license within a multidisciplinary obstetrical care team focused on compassionate, expert, and personalized care. We enjoy high-level resource support in a collaborative, multi-specialty practice with access to specialists in maternal fetal medicine, medical genetics, reproductive medicine and other medical and surgical specialties as needed throughout the Mayo Clinic Enterprise.
The vision for the Certified Nurse Midwives at Mayo Clinic is to provide the best midwifery care in the world by modeling evidence-based midwifery in a team-based approach to care. Midwives at Mayo Clinic believe that every patient deserves a midwife as part of their care and strive to support their patients in a holistic, whole person way while working with the first class medical care that is available in the Mayo enterprise. We provide antepartum, intrapartum, and postpartum care to women delivering at the Mayo Clinic Health System’s hospital in Eau Claire, Wisconsin.
Additional career opportunities include academic advancement, leadership of committees and teams, and participation in quality improvement projects and research studies. Midwives also play an integral role in the clinical education of midwives, resident physicians, nurse practitioners, physician assistants, and medical students. Midwives are eligible for faculty status through the Mayo Clinic College of Medicine and Science and provide didactic and clinical teaching to learners throughout their educational program.
QualificationsMasters or Doctoral prepared graduate of an accredited school of nursing and midwifery program accredited by the American College of Nurse Midwives. Body mobility, coordinated dexterity of hands, ears, and eyes; sensory acuity, and verbal ability are required.
Additional qualificationsExperience as a teacher or preceptor in an academic medical center; participation in quality improvement or research projects; expertise in multidisciplinary team collaboration; and additional certifications in Surgical First Assist, and/or Lactation consultation are desirable.
License or certificationEligible for RN and APRN licensure in Wisconsin. Active AMCB CNM certification. Current BLS and NRP certifications.

Compensation DetailEducation, experience and tenure may be considered along with internal equity when job offers are extended. The minimum salary every 2 weeks is approx $xxxx.xx, based on a full-time position.

Schedule detailsSchedule will include a mix of 8-hour day shifts in the clinic and 12-hour hospital shifts which rotate between days and nights, 8 am - 8 pm, or 8 pm to 8 am.
