Position description
The Mayo Clinic Health System Eau Claire General Surgery/Oncology Department is hiring for a Nurse Practitioner/Physician Assistant. The current practice consists of 10 General Surgeons, including a surgical oncologist and trauma & bariatric surgeons as well as 4 NP/PA’s. With the recent addition of a surgical oncologist in July of 2021, the department is looking for a nonoperative NP/PA position to support the inpatient and outpatient surgical oncology and general surgery practice.

The Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant works cooperatively with MD's, PA's/NP's, and other allied health personnel. Job responsibilities include outpatient and inpatient evaluations and consultations and post-surgical care of surgical oncology and general surgery patients.

The NP/PA will work closely with various allied health staff on a multi-disciplinary team by providing comprehensive assessments, ordering, conducting and interpreting diagnostic tests, formulating a diagnostic impression, developing and implementing a treatment plan, monitoring the effectiveness of therapeutic interventions, and prescription of pharmacological agents and non-pharmacological therapies.

Qualifications
NP: Active Wisconsin R.N. license or eligibility to practice professional nursing in the state of Wisconsin. National certification (e.g. ANCC or AANP) as a Nurse Practitioner. Current prescriptive authority in the state of Wisconsin APNP certification. Current ACLS and BLS certification

PA: Current Wisconsin Physician Assistant License. Current ACLS and BLS certification

Additional qualifications
Excellent verbal, written, and oral communication skills. * Demonstrated leadership ability. * Flexibility to adjust schedule to meet patient and staff needs. * Ability to manage time and stress effectively and adapt to unpredictable situations within the patient care setting.
