Responsibilities

The Mayo Clinic Health System Department of Orthopedics is seeking a non-operative Primary Care Sports Medicine physician, to join our collegial department of 20 physicians (orthopedists and podiatrists). The Sports Medicine Division includes 2 fellowship-trained Sports Medicine Orthopedic Surgeons, 1 fellowship-trained Sports Medicine Family Medicine physician, and established sports PT and sports performance services with full complement of athletic training staff. Candidates must be comfortable evaluating and treating musculoskeletal diagnoses and working closely with athletes of all ages.

  • Comprehensive Team model includes Athletic Trainers, Physical Therapists, Advanced Practice Providers, Orthopedic Surgeons and a Non-Operative Sports Medicine physician.
  • Proficiency in diagnostic and interventional musculoskeletal ultrasound is desired with interest in expanding orthobiologic offerings.
  • Interest in education is required. Learners from family medicine residency, medical students, NP/PA students, and masters of athletic training students currently rotate through the clinic.  Opportunity to teach select classes at University of Wisconsin- Eau Claire
  • Desire to pursue research interests. Established research collaboration with the University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire. 
  • Ability to work collectively with well-established referral resources, to grow practice and niche interests.
  • Licensed Athletic Trainers utilized as physician extenders in clinic and support 12 high schools and 2 University Athletic Departments.
  • Team Physician for the University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire Athletics Program
  • Established Rehabilitation Services department including PT, OT (on the same floor as the Orthopedic Department), Sports PT, and Sports Performance Enhancement Services
  • Planned expansion to an offsite location with a full breath Sports Medicine practice, performance/training facility and imaging center in spring of 2024.
  • Collaborate with 2 Orthopedic surgeons in Eau Claire and 2 outreach Surgeons in the Critical Access locations of Menomonie and Barron.
  • Orthopedic Department has been recognized repeatedly by U.S. News & World Report as a top performer in Wisconsin.
  • Level II Trauma Center
  • Common EHR and PACS across the health system


Qualifications

  • Board-Certified/Board-Eligible in Family Medicine, Physical Medicine & Rehabilitation, Emergency Medicine, or Pediatrics with certification/eligibility CAQ in Sports Medicine
  • Eligible for Medical Licensure in Wisconsin
