Responsibilities
The Department of Laboratory Medicine and Pathology is seeking a Ph.D., M.D./Ph.D. or M.D. to serve as the Associate Director of Clinical Chemistry at Mayo Clinic Florida. The laboratory serves a growing practice, including virtual/advanced care at home, transplant, oncology, research, education and other specialty programs.
Qualified candidates will support laboratory support services, point-of-care testing, ex-vivo donor organ testing, and automated chemistry. Experience in logistics, quality programs and innovation for point-of-care testing, specimen collection and transport, is preferred. The selected candidate will be the laboratory lead on the broader team supporting Mayo Clinic Florida's innovative advanced remote care program. Testing supporting this program will consist of a mix of traditional point-of-care, newly developed point-of-care and near patient collections in an evolving environment. The selected candidate will recruit and work with industry-partners in developing these novel point of care instruments. Point-of-care experience and clinical laboratory leadership is preferred, although well-qualified candidates completing fellowships in clinical chemistry will also be considered.
The Associate Director will support routine inpatient/outpatient testing, guide new clinical test development and implementation, participate in the laboratory's quality improvement and accreditation processes, and contribute to the mission of Mayo Clinic through participation in patient care, clinical/translational research, and teaching of trainees and medical students. This position includes an academic appointment with the College of Medicine, Mayo Clinic.Qualifications
- An M.D., M.D./Ph.D. or Ph.D.
- Certification by or board eligibility for the American Board of Clinical Chemistry.
- A track record of publications in the fields of clinical chemistry.
- Meet all the qualification requirements for a Technical Supervisor according to the Clinical Laboratory Improvement Act.
- Eligible for licensure in the State of Florida.
