Position description
Assists patients at patient entrances and throughout the Davis, Mayo and Cannaday Buildings at Mayo Clinic, Jacksonville (MCJ) as needed. Transports patients in wheelchairs throughout all buildings as needed. Drivers are responsible for transporting staff.NON-ESSENTIAL: Performs duties in a professional manner.



Must demonstrate professionalism when dealing with medical and allied health staff, patients, and others

Adapts quickly to any changes in procedure or equipment in a positive manner. Demonstrates willingness to remain flexible while performing any tasks or duties as requested by supervisor or lead. Maintains a professional demeanor when concerns and problems are brought to their attention. Seeks to gather necessary information in order to understand the presented situation in detail before offering possible resolution(s). Demonstrates a courteous and cooperative manner at all times. Does not become emotional or argumentative. Demonstrates tact and diplomacy when in contact with people under stressful conditions. Displays maturity, initiative, and shows sound judgment. Manages altercations and emergency situations in an effective and professional manner. Attends to any problem or request, which includes making the proper referrals to the appropriate section, as necessary. Utilizes appropriate verbal communication skills in a courteous and professional manner. Demonstrates strict confidentiality in the dissemination of information. Immediately reports any hazardous conditions to department supervisor, lead and Security as required.

Qualifications
EDUCATION : High School diploma or equivalent required.
EXPERIENCE : None required.

Additional qualifications
COMPETENCY: Demonstrates knowledge of operation of Mayo vehicles. Demonstrates knowledge of operation of wheelchairs. Demonstrates knowledge of lab policies and procedures for handling lab items for transport.
JOB KNOWLEDGE: Must possess excellent communications skills.
ADDITIONAL CONSIDERATIONS: Must be able to tolerate sitting, driving, walking, carrying and/or pushing for up to 8 hours. Must be able to lift 50 pounds without assistance.

Compensation Detail
Education, experience and tenure may be considered along with internal equity when job offers are extended. The minimum pay rate is $12.68 per hour.
