Position description
To perform specialized respiratory therapy services as directed by provider orders and in accordance with protocols, policies, and procedures established by the hospital.

Qualifications
Successful completion of a National Board for Respiratory Care (NBRC) approved Respiratory Therapy program. Previous hospital experience preferred.

Additional qualifications
Should be familiar with The Joint Commission standards and requirements. Understanding of computers. Good verbal and written communication skills required. Should be familiar with risks associated with exposure to infectious patients, needle puncture hazards, and hazards related to compressed gases.

License or certification
All Respiratory Therapists will hold the National Board for Respiratory Care (NBRC) Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT) credential prior to their first day of employment. Respiratory Therapists are required to maintain Basic Life Support and Advanced Cardiac Life Support or the equivalent as determined by the site of hire.
