Position description
Is responsible to and receives direction from MCJ Laboratory Operations Administrator and Laboratory Medical Director. This is a multi-campus position, supervising quality assurance at both the Clinic and hospital laboratory areas, as well as working closely with the MCJ Mayo Medical Laboratory Operations Administrator and Mayo Rochester Quality Coordinator. The QA Coordinator will provide guidance or interpretation of rules and develop response to regulations impacting laboratory ordering, testing, and reporting.
Is responsible for coordinating/facilitating the QA/QC activities for MCJ Laboratories and standardizing this activity with Mayo Medical Laboratories of Mayo Collaborative Services Incorporated. This person will be responsible for implementing a Quality System Program in Jacksonville that will be aligned and comparable to the Rochester MML Program. Will ensure all procedures/policies are in place to meet CAP, CLIA, and FDA regulations. Will be the point person for the audits and inspections. This will involve blinded QC samples. Will develop and monitor the SOP procedure, ensuring accurate monitoring and documentation of SOP's. Conduct internal inspections to assure compliance and effectiveness. Will recommend process changes to management. Must have outstanding human relation skills in order to direct and influence all personnel toward quality goals. Incumbent must be able to identify, analyze, evaluate, and solve quality problems within the department
Qualifications
Position requires a Medical Technologist or Bachelor's degree in Sciences.
One to two years of Quality Management experience preferred.
Incumbent should have a minimum of six years of experience in the laboratory to have a broad understanding of lab process, procedures, and tests.
Computer experience is required.
Additional qualifications
Knowledge of laboratory compliance requirements for OSHA, CAP, and other regulatory agencies.
Knowledge of Laboratory Information Systems useful.
Scheduled hours 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. with additional hours as needed (averages 45-50 hours a week)
