This role reports up through the Revenue Cycle Patient Access team. The Financial Counseling Contact Center (FCCCR) reports to the Patient Access Supervisor, and interacts with and responds to requests from patients, providers, insurance companies, OAM scheduling staff, the prior authorization team and others as needed. The FCCR is responsible for handling both incoming and outbound calls in a fast-paced call center environment. The FCCR will receive call transfers from Appointment Schedulers, Patient Account Services, and patients with financial questions related to appointments including but not limited to: charge estimates, pre-service payments including co-pays, co-insurance, and pre-service deposit amounts, as well as insurance and coverage information. The FCCR will be responsible for placing outbound calls to patients, providers, insurance companies, and other departments within our organization in an effort to resolve patient financial questions and resolve pre-payment obligations prior to or as follow up to patient appointments. Other responsibilities may include handling and resolving missing registration items via work queues, in basket messages, resolution of authorization from recovery activities, and coverage and guarantor related issues for hospital inpatient, outpatient, clinic, and emergency departments. This role requires adherence to quality assurance guidelines as well as established productivity standards to support the work unit's performance expectations.
Minimum Education: High School Diploma or GED required
Minimum Experience: 2+ years of relevant experience required
Additional Requirements include:
Ability to read and communicate effectively
Basic computer/keyboarding skills, intermediate mathematic competency
Good written and verbal communication skills
Knowledge of proper phone etiquette and phone handling skills
Position requires good verbal communication skills and the ability to work in a complex and patient-centered environment. Incumbents must be comfortable with ambiguity, exhibit good decision making and judgment capabilities, and attention to detail. It is expected that staff are self-motivated, self-directed and highly organized and agree to promote a productive, collegial workplace. Staff should have the ability to prioritize work and handle a variety of tasks simultaneously. Belief in the mission and strong ethical conduct is essential. Knowledge of and experience using an Epic RC/EMR system is preferred.
Required education, experience and tenure may be considered along with internal equity when job offers are extended. The hourly pay range is $19.46-$26.29 per hour.
