Position descriptionThe patient care associate assists patients with delegated tasks of direct and indirect patient care, which support nursing practice under the direct supervision of a registered nurse. The patient care associate carries out designated activities that are within those functions limited by law to unlicensed nursing personnel. This includes assisting patients with activities of daily living, providing basic nursing care to patients and assisting in the maintenance of a safe and clean environment. Assists RN with procedures and treatments that require competence in advanced technical and manual skills. The Health Unit Coordinator is responsible for performing Health Unit Coordinator procedures for the following: admission, discharge, transfers, pre and post procedures. The Health Unit Coordinator is responsible for unit phone management, monitoring physician's orders and coordinating the electronic and paper chart.Communicates pertinent information to the appropriate individuals in a timely manner. Must maintain strict confidentiality of information.
Qualifications18 years old and completion of 12 college credits or High school Diploma/GED with successful completion of a Nursing Assistant training or equivalent.
Additional qualificationsMinimum of six months healthcare related field experience preferred. Health Unit Clerk certificate (desired). Certified Nursing Assistant on State of Wisconsin Nurse Aide Registry in "non-expired" status (preferred).
License or certificationMaintains current Basic Life Support for Health Care Provides from one of the following programs; American Heart Association or American Red Cross. If a candidate does not currently have their Basic Life Support for Health Care Providers from one of the following programs: American Heart Association or American Red Cross the Basic Life Support, certification will be included as part of the orientation program.

Compensation DetailEducation, experience and tenure may be considered along with internal equity when job offers are extended. The minimum pay rate is $15.97 per hour.
