The position will work collaboratively with physicians, other associate providers and nursing/support staff. Experience is preferred but a new graduate will be considered. The NP/PA should be comfortable seeing adult patients with a wide variety of acute/episodic medical problems and minor injuries. The Hospitalist service takes care of the patient from all areas of primary care including medical screenings for behavioral health. The Hospitalist group in Eau Claire provides 24-hour hospital medicine coverage including admissions, inpatient consultations, developing plans for patients' medical care and discharging patients. In Menomonie, hospitalists cover between the hours of 7 am and 7 pm, 7-days per week. The Menomonie NP/PAs would then cover between the hours of 7 pm and 7 am and be expected to collaborate with the Eau Claire night shift hospitalists, in house ER physicians, and other local Menomonie providers.
Ability to read and communicate effectively in English. Proficiency in reading, writing, and communicating in English. Additional languages preferred. Strong clinical assessment skills following current practice standards. Strong cardiovascular knowledge base involving cardiovascular physiology, medications, and treatment modalities recommended. Basic computer aptitude.
Nurse Practitioner: Active Wisconsin R.N. license with eligibility to practice professional nursing in the State of Wisconsin National certification (e.g. ANCC or AANP) as a Nurse Practitioner with recertification every 5 years under regulating agencies guidelines. Current prescriptive authority in the state of Wisconsin (APNP certification and DEA) obtaining 8 contact hours per year in clinical pharmacology/therapeutics relevant to Advanced Practice Nurse Prescriber’s area of practice. Current BLS and ACLS certification.
Physician Assistant: Graduate of accredited Physician Assistant Program; NCCPA Certified and licensed through the State of Wisconsin. Must complete 100 hours of CME every two (2) years and take the recertification exam every six (6) years. Must be supervised by licensed physician. Prescriptive Authority in the State of Wisconsin (WI Board of Medical Examiners and DEA), Current BLS and ACLS certification.
License or Certification
Nurse Practitioner: Active Wisconsin RN license with eligibility to practice professional nursing in the State of Wisconsin. National certification (e.g. ANCC or AANP) as a Nurse Practitioner with recertification every 5 years under regulating agencies guidelines.
Physician Assistant: NCCPA Certified and licensed through the State of Wisconsin.
Additional languages preferred. Strong cardiovascular knowledge base involving cardiovascular physiology, medications, and treatment modalities recommended.
Education, experience and tenure may be considered along with internal equity when job offers are extended.
