Position descriptionThe Medical Surgical/Special Care Unit at Mayo Clinic Health System-Menomonie is a 21-bed Critical Access hospital department that cares for a diverse patient population. Primary patient populations include: general medical, surgical, orthopedics, podiatry and gynecology. Staff in the department work very cohesively as a team and strive to provide the highest level of quality care to their patients.
The Patient Care Assistant assists staff with delegated tasks of direct and indirect patient care which supports and complements nursing practice under the supervision of a registered nurse. The Patient Care Assistant carries out delegated skills that are within those functions limited by law to unlicensed nursing personnel.
Qualifications18 years old and completion of 12 college credits or High school Diploma/GED with successful completion of a Nursing Assistant training or equivalent.
Additional qualificationsCertified Nursing Assistant on State of Wisconsin Nurse Aide Registry in "non-expired" status (preferred). Patient care skills, knowledge of infection control and safety procedures, medical terminology, strong verbal and written communication skills. Requires independent judgment, a high level of motivation, accountability, flexibility, interest in patient care, and compassion for people.
License or certificationMaintains current Basic Life Support for Health Care Provides from one of the following programs; American Heart Association or American Red Cross. If a candidate does not currently have their Basic Life Support for Health Care Providers from one of the following programs: American Heart Association or American Red Cross the Basic Life Support, certification will be included as part of the orientation program.

Compensation DetailEducation, experience and tenure may be considered along with internal equity when job offers are extended. The minimum pay rate is $15.54 per hour.
