Position description
A respiratory therapist provides assessment, treatment, and monitoring of cardiopulmonary disease across the continuum of care. A respiratory therapist functions as part of an interdisciplinary team that coordinates and provides continuity of care in a financially responsible manner. A respiratory therapist is able to quickly and accurately assess a patient's condition and communicates effectively to the care team concerning changes in patient's condition, results of diagnostic studies, symptomatology, and response to treatment.

Qualifications
The Respiratory Therapist job requires graduation from an accredited school of Respiratory Therapy and basic computer literacy. Good verbal and written communication skills required. Function with initiative and independent judgment, Desire for continuous quality improvement.

Additional qualifications
Bachelor's degree in Respiratory Therapy or healthcare related field is preferred. Previous hospital experience preferred. Additional NBRC specialty credentials preferred.

License or certification
All respiratory therapists will hold the National Board for Respiratory Care entry level certification (CRT) prior to their first day of Mayo employment. All graduate respiratory therapists must possess valid permission (permanent or temporary permit) to practice with the licensing board in the state of hire prior to their first day of Mayo employment. The Registered Respiratory Therapist credential is required upon hire or by the end of one year of employment and must be maintained throughout employment. Basic Life Support certification is required upon hire or within 90 days from date of hire. Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) or equivalent determined by site is required upon hire or within 6 months from date of hire. Neonatal Resuscitation Program (NRP) and Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) where applicable. Additional life support certifications may be required by site of hire. All required certifications must be maintained throughout employment.

Six, 12 hour shifts per pay period. (Night Shift 1800 to 0630)

Respiratory Care staff receive the opportunity to rotate to other clinical sites, in the Northwest Wisconsin region, to help accommodate staffing needs.



Weekend schedule
Weekend schedule: rotating every third weekend. PTO cannot be requested or scheduled on the weekend you are assigned to work. Trades with other staff members during the weekend are allowed.

Staff will be scheduled to work two holidays per calendar year, as determined by the Holiday Schedule policy. PTO cannot be requested or scheduled on Holidays that you are assigned to work. However, trades with other staff members on the holiday are allowed.

Menomonie, a city of 16,000, has everything from lakes, rivers, bike trails, nature trails, and nature preserves to modern shopping with everything you might need. There are an abundance of things to do in Menomonie from seeing a play, enjoying a live band, hiking at Hoffman Hills state park, biking, or just relaxing. The community offers excellent schools, low crime and affordable housing. The city is located 50 miles east of Minneapolis/St. Paul and 30 minutes west of Eau Claire and Chippewa Falls.
