Position description
Prepares sterile table for each procedure assuring required instruments are available to the physicians including suture, blades, cautery, suction, implants, medication and solutions. Assists in draping the surgical field to ensure correct exposure of operative site with respect to each patient's right to privacy, dignity, safety and comfort. Provides a quiet environment for the surgical patients. Assists the surgeon when she/he does not have an assistant. Correctly identifies items on back table. Applies basic and current knowledge of surgical instruments for a proficient performance of assigned functions.


Qualifications
Student or Graduate of an accredited surgical technology program and certified through National Board of Surgical Technology and Surgical Assisting (NBSTSA)within one year of hire date. If graduated from a surgical tech program that was not accredited, at least one year of surgical tech experience (within the last 5 years) in an applicable care setting is required.




Additional qualifications
Two years successful surgical technologist experience in acute care, perioperative or surgical setting within the last five years preferred.

License or certification
Licensure & Certification: Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required. Surgical Technologist Certification (CST) required within 1 year of hire date.

Compensation Detail
Education, experience and tenure may be considered along with internal equity when job offers are extended. The minimum pay rate is $26.12 per hour.

Schedule details
8 hour day shifts, with variation in start times. Weekday and weekend on-call hours required, which includes holiday on-call coverage. Current schedules are Monday through Friday.
