Position description
The Director, Strategy, is a strategic thought partner working together with senior physicians and administrative leaders as well as business partners, to formulate and refine new strategies, and to develop insightful ideas that help accelerate strategic priorities. They lead and execute strategic initiatives and partner with leaders across the enterprise and externally to drive innovation, challenge the status quo and implement solutions and programs to advance priorities. They work across the Strategy department to ensure a shared and single voice with customers and are responsible for ensuring deliverables are on time and outcomes are achieved. They are expected to foster an internal culture of teamwork and transparency that drives excellent service, quality, diversity of thought, curiosity, and an engaging work environment. They also serve as change agents for new ideas, concepts, and ways of working.
The director drives excellence in financial management, business and strategic planning, performance monitoring and reporting. They should have strong business writing skills, executive presence and communication. They also support department, division and institutional projects, staff recruitment, policy implementation and expense management. They serve as a consultant for internal strategy and contribute to staff development and training activities as needed.
*This position is a combination of remote and onsite support work. Individual must live within driving distance of the Mayo Clinic Arizona campus. May be required to travel up to 20%.

Qualifications
• Bachelor's degree.
• Five years of healthcare experience with focus on strategy, client services, engineering, project management or operations.
• Seven years of people leadership experience preferred.
Additional qualifications
• Experience in corporate strategy (market assessments, strategic choices based on growth projections, market position and the competitive landscape), experience in the successful execution of partnerships with external organizations that drive/strengthen performance and previous experience in applying business principles in the support of leaders of a large and complex medical center.
• Master’s Degree in business and or healthcare with a preference for concentrations in strategy, financial management, entrepreneurship, and innovation.
• Strong alignment with Mayo’s core values.
• The successful applicant has a growth attitude, can generate new ideas that are based on reliable strategic concepts.
• Experience with an Academic Medical Center.
• Proficiency in preparation and presentation at executive-level meetings.
• Facilitation of strategic decision-making forums with senior executives.
• Resilient change agent that thrives in ambiguity. Comfort working in an empowered fashion with minimal direction and under pressure.
• Relationship oriented, high performing individual with a strong balance of EQ and IQ.
• Successful track record to work effectively in a complex, consensus-driven environment that rewards teamwork.
• Ability to balance teamwork with individual contributions.
• Strong strategic judgment.
• Must demonstrate ability to handle sensitive/confidential/proprietary information.
• Ability to prioritize and communicate priorities well in alignment with strategy.

The minimum annual salary is $152,360. Experience and tenure may be considered along with internal equity when job offers are extended.
