Position description
Mayo Clinic is searching for a transformational leader to advance the world class Division of Gastroenterology and Hepatology at its Destination Medical Center (DMC) in Phoenix & Scottsdale, Arizona. Mayo Clinic founders provided the vision of distinction and passion for innovative thinking and excellence which established Mayo's legacy. Over the next four years, Mayo Clinic is making significant investments in both the physical and technological future of health care, through doubling the size of the Mayo Clinic campus in Phoenix, inclusive of practice, education, and research activities to fulfill the Mayo vision of Cure, Connect and Transform and help build the Discovery Oasis, a joint collaboration between Mayo Clinic and Arizona State University, one of the leading science and technology institutions in the country. Mayo Arizona has a rich educational environment with Mayo Clinic Alix School of Medicine on site, as well as active residency and fellowship programs. As part of the Mayo Clinic Healthcare System with a single medical record system and close ties with the other Mayo Clinic sites, this provides streamlined patient care and excellent opportunities for academic activity. Mayo Clinic Arizona is also part of the Mayo Clinic Comprehensive Cancer Center (MCCCC) is one of the largest, most comprehensive cancer centers in the world, treating more than 125,000 cancer patients each year.
The Mayo Clinic Arizona Division of Gastroenterology and Hepatology is consistently ranked among the top 10 best specialty practices in the world for GI/Hepatology care by the U.S. News and World Report with excellent scores in outcomes and experience. Our strengths include dedicated teams that encompass the entire spectrum of gastroenterology and hepatology including GI cancer and precancerous conditions, esophageal, neurogastroenterology and food-related disorders, inflammatory bowel disorders, hepatobiliary and pancreatic disorders, nutrition and advanced endoscopic procedures. We perform a large and growing number of liver transplants and Mayo Arizona performs more solid organ transplants than any other center in the country.
Our Arizona practice works between two campuses, in Scottsdale (Gastroenterology) and Phoenix (Hepatology, working closely with the Transplant team). Our team is comprised of 42 physicians, and 8 Advanced Practice Providers, along with fellows in our growing General and Advanced GI fellowship programs. The Division has nationally renowned researchers engaged in basic, clinical/translational and endoscopic innovations, funded by the NIH and other sources.
The Gastroenterology Division Chair will work closely with the Department of Medicine Chair (Pankaj Pasricha, MBBS, MD) and the CEO of Mayo Clinic Arizona (Richard Gray, MD), their Administrative Partners, and other Division leaders to achieve the facility’s overall mission and strategic goals. Candidates for the Division Chair must have a demonstrable track record of innovation in research and/or clinical practice systems with a commensurate track record of funding. The Department of Medicine is the largest Department at Mayo Clinic, Arizona and is committed to robust growth in research, discovery, and innovation over the next few years. It is expected that the Gastroenterology Division Chair will be an effective partner in that growth, providing strategic direction over the three Mayo shields: clinical practice, research and education. The ability to mentor a group of diverse faculty covering all levels of experience, is key.
At Mayo Clinic you will find a culture of staff that inspire hope and contribute to health and well-being by providing the best care to every patient through integrated clinical practice, education, and research.
