Position description
The Gastroenterology (GI) Department is seeking a Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant. The Advanced Practice Provider (APP) will provide GI consultations. The APP will work collaboratively with all GI physicians and independently to provide for the patient’s needs. Position Details: 2/3 Outpatient, 1/3 Inpatient. This will include in-person and virtual visits with patients.

Primary Responsibilities include but are not limited to:
  • Obtain history and physical
  • Follow-up with labs, x-rays, CT scans, and pathology
  • Provide follow-up for patient after discharge
  • Provide urgent consult from ED/Urgent Care referral
Potential in the future for offsite visits in Cannon Falls and Zumbrota; primary location will be Red Wing.

Qualifications
Masters prepared graduate of an accredited school of nursing and Nurse Practitioner program. Current Minnesota RN license and certification as a FNP. A Doctorate of Nursing Practice (DNP) is preferred.

Or graduate of accredited Physician Assistant program with current PA certification by NCCPA and registration as a PA by the Minnesota State Board of Medical Practice.


Additional qualifications
Experience in primary care preferred. The candidate should be comfortable with autonomy, independent decision making, and possess excellent communication skills. The preferred candidate will be a team player, who is comfortable seeing patients of all ages. He/she will function as a member of a care team, seeing patients for chronic disease management, preventive care, health promotion and acute care.
