The Mayo Clinic Division of Hospital Internal Medicine in Rochester, Minnesota is seeking an academically-oriented Nocturnist with an interest in Teaching and research to join our team.
This is an opportunity to join an elite team at the Nation’s #1 ranked hospital (U.S. News & World Report 2021-22). A demonstrated track record as a medical educator and/or researcher is strongly preferred. The successful candidate will have advanced training in hospital medicine, general internal medicine (Chief Resident equivalent), geriatrics, masters level degree or significant hospital medicine experience.
The Nocturnist will primarily be responsible for the admission and management of hospital inpatients but may be assigned the role of receiving calls from the Mayo Clinic Health System hospitals and other hospitals around the country and providing patient management advice, triaging transfers to Mayo Clinic Rochester hospitals, managing patient flows from the Emergency Department and allocating patients to General Medical and Subspecialty hospital services.
The Nocturnist will be a fully engaged member of the Division and participate in medical research, quality improvement, leadership and/or education projects to continuously advance the academic hospital practice at Mayo Clinic.
License or certification
A qualified candidate must have M.D., D.O. or foreign degree equivalent, must have or be eligible for Minnesota medical license, and must be Board Certified in Internal Medicine.
In addition, the candidate must have at least 24 months of prior experience working in hospital medicine, and must have advanced training (fellowship or Master’s degree) and demonstrated scholarly activity (such as publication record or additional training or experience at a top ranked academic medical center).
