Why Mayo Clinic

Mayo Clinic has been ranked the #1 hospital in the nation by U.S. News & World Report, as well as #1 in more specialties than any other care provider. As we work together to put the needs of the patient first, we are also dedicated to our employees, investing in competitive compensation and comprehensive benefit plans – to take care of you and your family, now and in the future. And with continuing education and advancement opportunities at every turn, you can build a long, successful career with Mayo Clinic. You’ll thrive in an environment that supports innovation, is committed to ending racism and supporting diversity, equity and inclusion, and provides the resources you need to succeed.

Responsibilities

We are searching for driven, enthusiastic talent to join our team. The primary purpose of the Administrative Apprenticeship is to provide a new college graduate with the experience, knowledge, and skills to successfully transition to an entry role on the Mayo Clinic team.

The apprentice's responsibilities include learning specialized tasks in their chosen field through actual job training under the supervision of tenured staff.
An apprentice's duties include but are not limited to performing administrative tasks as needed, providing possible recommendations on improving productivity, participating in classes and/or workshops on and off-site, observing all health and safety codes, completing assignments, as well as delivering presentations to staff and other stakeholders. Therefore, you should be well-organized, flexible, and willing to assist wherever possible. The duration of the administrative apprenticeship is approximately one year.

The IT Administrative Apprenticeship is a full-time one-year onsite experience during which recent college graduates will provide installation, configuration, and/or break/fix support as requested. The apprentice will also provide accurate, timely, and creative solutions to customer computer and networking problems of moderate to complex nature to ensure end-user productivity, participate in the evaluation of new technology, and assist with equipment evaluation and standards as directed by leadership. In addition, the apprentice will be expected to study further IT topics aligned with career goals using Mayo-supplied learning platforms and be required to attend events such as the Internship/Apprenticeship Mayo IT Technology Summit.

Successful apprentices must have great time management skills and be willing to fit into the existing staff structure. Outstanding apprentices respond well to criticism, build good relationships with colleagues, and ultimately make a lasting impression.

Mentors will be assigned to the apprentice to help support, guide, and develop the individual for success.
