Position description
Mayo Clinic’s Department of Psychiatry and Psychology in Rochester Minnesota is seeking an outstanding general adult or consultation-liaison psychiatrist to join the Behavioral Medicine Program in the Division of Outpatient Consultation. The successful candidate will provide excellent team-based outpatient care, and maintain a subspecialty focus within at least one of our existing inter-department partnerships [oncology, neurology/neurosurgery (including deep brain stimulation), cardiology, gastroenterology, and otology]. Practice can be tailored to subspecialty focus and interests. The ideal candidate also will have demonstrated interest and experience in medical education and research. The position includes strong support for academic productivity and professional growth, with numerous opportunities for collaborative research. Academic rank in the Mayo Clinic College of Medicine and Science will be granted commensurate with experience. We are open and flexible to accommodate an FTE from .8 to 1.0 for this position.
The Behavioral Medicine Program is an interdisciplinary, mostly consultative practice. Psychiatrists focus on collaborative evaluations and treatment of psychiatric and functional disorders occurring in at least one of the above medical-surgical populations. Within the Division of Outpatient Consultation, the successful applicant will join 16 other psychiatrists, 5 psychologists, 4 master’s level counselors, and 4 advanced practice providers. Several individual and group-based treatment programs are available at Mayo Clinic for managing patients with medical-surgical-psychiatric comorbidity and functional disorders. This position is based in Rochester, Minnesota and we offer a generous relocation package.
Diversity and inclusion are integral to Mayo Clinic's mission to provide excellent, culturally relevant care in a welcoming environment to patients from a wide variety of backgrounds. We aim to diversify our workforce to represent the communities we serve and continue to create an inclusive work environment where differences are valued, allowing individuals to achieve and contribute to their fullest potential. This commitment to diversity is woven into the fabric of Mayo Clinic — we embrace these values as we serve our patients, employees, students, suppliers, and communities. Become part of the legacy that embraces our differences and enables us to provide the best care to patients from all over the world.
Joining Mayo Clinic offers you industry leading benefits. You will have plenty of options for medical, dental, and vision care insurance. Flexible spending accounts let you defer pre-tax dollars to handle your out-of-pocket medical expenses. Life insurance, short-term disability, and long-term disability let you rest easy, and our generous time away and CME programs help you enjoy a healthy work-life balance. Finally, outstanding retirement benefits including a defined benefit Pension Plan along with 401k/403b savings programs with a match ensure financial stability after your life-changing career at Mayo Clinic.

License or certification
Candidates must be eligible for licensure in the state of Minnesota and be board-certified/board-eligible in general psychiatry through the American Board of Psychiatry and Neurology. Subspecialty board certification/eligibility in consultation-liaison psychiatry is preferred, but not required for applicants who have experience working with one or more of the patient populations listed above.
