Mayo Clinic’s Department of Psychiatry and Psychology in Rochester Minnesota is seeking three outstanding cancer psychologists to expand cancer services in partnership with the Mayo Clinic Comprehensive Cancer Center (MCCC), an NCI-designated Comprehensive Cancer Center. The successful candidates will provide excellent team-based outpatient care in coordination with multidisciplinary cancer specialists and providers across the institutional cancer practice. The ideal candidate will also have demonstrated interest and experience in research and the advancement of evidence-based psychological cancer care in the context of clinical care and clinical research. The position includes strong support for academic productivity and professional growth, collaborative team science and development of programmatic grant applications and clinical trials and interventions, and numerous other opportunities for collaborative research, education and training, and teaching. Academic rank in the Mayo Clinic College of Medicine and Science will be granted commensurate with experience. We are open and flexible to accommodate an FTE from .8 to 1.0 for this position.
These three psychologists will focus on psychological and behavioral factors affecting cancer outcomes and can tailor their individual practices to include outpatient consultation, individual therapy, group intervention, and interdisciplinary team care and leadership. A particularly exciting and innovative opportunity is to participate in the new Mayo Clinic Cancer CARE (Connected Access and Remote Expertise) Beyond Walls program, where we will be assessing patient experiences and outcomes as transform the delivery of advanced cancer care, including chemotherapy and supportive care, to the home environment. Psychology leadership is integrated into the MCCC administrative and operational structure and strategic plan, inclusive of protected time. Psychology leaders will promote evidence-based psychological treatment integrated into comprehensive cancer care plans, inclusive of serving as Co-Directors for distress screening, symptom management, survivorship, chronic cancers, palliative care, AYA, clinical trials, caregiver interventions, transitions to virtual care and care at home, and interprofessional education. Further opportunities include joining 12 other psychologists on the faculty of the Clinical Health Psychology Fellowship, joining the faculties of medical fellowships, and collaboration with several cancer research and practice groups. Within the Division of Outpatient Consultation, these three cancer psychologists will join 16 other psychiatrists, 5 psychologists, 4 master’s level counselors, and 4 advanced practice providers. The PhD-MA care model is akin to the MD-PA care model, with doctors maintaining cutting-edge national expertise and leading program development and continuous improvement. This position is based in Rochester, Minnesota and we offer a generous relocation package.

License or certification
Candidates must be eligible for licensure in the state of Minnesota and be Board-certified/Board-eligible through the American Board of Professional Psychology. Requirements for the position include completion of an APA or CPA accredited doctoral program and internship, with experience in empirically-based psychological consultation and treatment approaches. Interdisciplinary experience in a cancer center is preferred, but not required. Applicants should demonstrate a strong interest in multidisciplinary clinical, educational, and research collaboration and excellent interpersonal communication and leadership abilities.
