Responsibilities
The Content and Service Specialist coordinates promotional, marketing and strategic reporting materials for external communications/media relations, internal communications and potential business partners. Creates and maintains content inventory including funding stories, technology portfolio slides, start-up and agreement summaries, non-confidential promotional materials, project pipelines and dashboards for both Mayo Clinic Ventures and Corporate Business Development. Accountable for factually, stylistically, and grammatically correct content using institutional digital templates, communications formatting and Mayo Clinic brand standards. Supports, understands, builds and implements communication strategies and plans to support department business objectives. Works collaboratively with licensing and business development managers and directors to build technology and business development marketing plans, supporting implementation, monitoring and measuring results of marketing activities. Provides timely response to urgent requests for information, working with Public Affairs, institutional and departmental leadership, colleagues and functional areas accordingly. Manages online presence and social media accounts.
Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in technical or scientific writing, journalism, communications, advertising, business, marketing, healthcare, or similar field, and a minimum of 3 years professional experience in a relevant field including inventorying, creating, and maintaining digital content, proficiency with digital marketing tools, familiarity with healthcare and scientific terminology. Must demonstrate ability to consistently produce concise, well-written professional communications along with a high level of resourcefulness and creativity in gathering needed information and adapting the deliverables as necessary. Ability to work in a complex environment with multi-dimensional points of view, be self-motivated, self-directed and highly organized. Maintains a high degree of professionalism and confidentiality. Requires problem solving, critical thinking, active listening, exceptional oral and written communication skills, presentation skills, and interpersonal skills. Experience in a technology marketing role, including multiple marketing outreach programs for research-based innovations. Understanding of technology transfer/commercialization, intellectual property management, startup company formation, venture financing and business development. High personal motivation supporting a strong work ethic, flexibility and creativity is essential. Must be able to effectively work independently and collaboratively to drive forward multiple projects simultaneously, possessing initiative, analytical skills and an ability to operate with a high level of productivity.
