Responsibilities
Key production support person to work with unit managers, with role based on assignments.
Assignments include one or more of the following.
Project Design: Project CADD lead/designer, specializing in one discipline (architectural, interiors, mechanic and electrical), with some knowledge of all disciplines.
Miscellaneous Project Design: Triage - contact person for miscellaneous project requests, and/or Quality Control - plan check, and/or Outside A/E Firm - project coordinator for drafting service, and/or Department-based model of service -coordination of a departments miscellaneous design needs.
Standards: Develop, modify and update Reference Standards, design standards, and General Specifications under supervision of architects and engineers.
CADD Software and Hardware: serves as a key technical resource in Section and Division initiatives involving the implementation of CADD, databases, and related technologies. Participates in the development and enhancement of CADD production tools. Serves as a technical resource to other Facilities groups as appropriate. Works to manage and maintain Institutional CADD floor plan, campus databases, infrastructure databases and other institutional data.
Coordinate all the above via Web Page. All positions serve as backup to each other as necessary, position requires abilities consistent with all roles. Must be able to function independently and manage and organize large work load for timely completion of projects. Performs lead role in providing mentorship, quality control and direction. This position requires all skills described in the Design Tech II job description and performance of those roles with high distinction.
Qualifications
A four year degree in Architecture, Engineering, Facilities Management or Construction is preferred.
Minimum Associates degree in architectural/engineering technology or equivalent technology program is required. A minimum of eight years design tech experience or equal education/work experience. Five years healthcare design experience preferred. Good understanding of building mechanics, a knowledge of building materials, equipment,
and construction techniques, good understanding of life safety codes, building codes, and standards; ability to adapt codes to specific design conditions and solutions; the ability to read and interpret construction documents, construction details, and specifications for all types of buildings. Responsible for maintaining own personal technical competency and growth. Technical proficiency in Computer Aided Design and Drafting (CADD) and related computer software applications. Must be organized and able to handle the pressure associated with heavy project load and tight time lines.. Must have strong human relations and communications skills in order to interact with supervisors, administrator, physicians and outside vendors. Able to carry out all assigned tasks in an efficient, timely and effective manner. Able to establish and maintain an effective working relationship with others.
Additional Qualifications
Broad-based design experience in Architectural, Mechanical, and Electrical disciplines. Mechanical and electrical experience strongly desired, along with a good understanding of the overall Architectural Design process. |
