THE DIVISION OF MEDICAL ONCOLOGY AT MAYO CLINIC IN ROCHESTER, MN, IS SEEKING A MEDICAL ONCOLOGIST WITH EXPERTISE IN ENDOCRINE MALIGNANCIES TO JOIN OUR PRACTICE.

Mayo Clinic in Rochester, MN is conducting a search for a full-time endocrine malignancies medical oncologist with an interest in clinical and translational research, to join our medical oncology practice.

Mayo Clinic is among the leading cancer care providers in the United States and is an NCI-designated comprehensive cancer center. Mayo Clinic physicians provide state of the art care for patients with a diagnosis of cancer. The Mayo Clinic Division of Medical Oncology in Rochester provides approximately 60,000 patient visits patients each year across multiple tumor types. While providing state of the art cancer care, patients receive multidisciplinary and supportive care through a patient focused, comprehensive practice.

Our unique endocrine oncology care team at Mayo Clinic is composed of endocrine oncologists representing medical oncology and endocrinology and that collaborates with a number of disciplines including ENT, Endocrine Surgery, Neurosurgery, Radiation Oncology, Nuclear Medicine, Genomics and Pathology to provide the highest level of complex multidisciplinary care for patients with advanced endocrine cancers. Our high-volume thyroid practice at the Mayo Clinic consists of over 1000 thyroidectomies a year between our surgical specialists. We have a long history of well-established expertise in adrenal tumors, particularly pheochromocytomas and/or paragangliomas. Altogether, our endocrine oncology practice is collaborative with members of our Mayo Clinic Enterprise and Mayo Health Care Network in which we are engaged within multidisciplinary weekly tumor boards dedicated each to complex cases in thyroid cancers, adrenal tumors, invasive pituitary tumors as well as nuclear medicine supported PRRT tumor boards. We participate in monthly Enterprise-wide endocrine oncology disease group meetings with colleagues from Phoenix and Jacksonville focused on generation and/or engagement within clinical trials and/or translational studies for advanced cancers. We hold annual disease group retreats that include patient symposia with the goal of practice review, brainstorming novel clinical trial development and presentations of clinical and /or translational studies for patients with advanced, treatment refractory disease. Members of our endocrine oncology practice represent members and/or leaders of national organizations involved in endocrine cancers and practice guidelines, including the American Thyroid Association, the Endocrine Society, NCCN thyroid cancer, neuroendocrine and immune adverse effects panels, the International Thyroid Oncology Group and the North American Neuroendocrine Tumors groups.

License or certification
QUALIFICATIONS: The ideal candidate for this position is an MD or MD/PhD, board-certified/board-eligible medical oncologist with a demonstrated clinical and research expertise in endocrine malignancies. Eligibility for Minnesota licensure. Allocation of clinical and non-clinical time will be based on the successful applicants experience and any grant funding. The position includes participation in education efforts for the ACGME-accredited hematology/oncology fellowship.
