Mayo Clinic in Rochester, Minnesota is seeking applications from outstanding basic science or translational investigators for a faculty position in the Department of Ophthalmology specializing in Regenerative Ophthalmology and Eye Disease.
Mayo Clinic is an integrated, multidisciplinary academic medical center with comprehensive programs in medical education and research that span across three group practice and research sites. We support a vibrant and diverse research enterprise, with programs in basic, translational, clinical, and population sciences. Mayo has world-class faculty, laboratories, and state-of-the-art core facilities and biorepositories. The Mayo Clinic Graduate School of Biomedical Sciences also trains and supports PhD and MD/PhD students.
Position description
The ideal candidate will be an investigator whose research program addresses innovative and important questions related to eye disease, particularly those interested in glaucoma, corneal dystrophies, or macular and retinal diseases. Candidates who value advancing patient care through discovery and translation with research interests in development of leading edge treatments or in regenerative capacities to grow, repair or replace damaged cells of diseased tissues in a collaborative environment are encouraged to apply.
License or certification
Candidates holding a doctoral degree (PhD, MD/PhD, or MD) at all levels of academic rank will be considered for this faculty position. Senior candidates must have a strong publication record and history of NIH-equivalent extramural funding. Junior investigators should have a strong publication record with evidence of successful competition for external funding. The selected individual is expected to develop and maintain a nationally and internationally recognized extramurally funded research program.
