Position description
Mayo Clinic in Rochester, Minnesota is expanding their complement of breast medicine physicians. We are conducting a search for a full-time internal medicine physician who is interested in building a clinical and research career with a focus in Breast medicine. The ideal candidate would have interest in continuing the practice of general internal medicine, with additional knowledge or training in breast medicine, or be willing to be trained in the specialty.

At the Mayo Clinic, Breast medicine physicians care for patients with a variety of breast conditions, including breast cancer or predisposition to hereditary breast cancer mutation. The physicians are part of an integrated medical practice working in partnership with specialist colleagues in Internal Medicine (Physicians and APPs), breast imaging, medical oncology, pathology, radiation oncology general surgery, plastic surgery, genetics, and psychology to provide personalized breast cancer treatment for great patient outcomes. Further, the physicians partner with dedicated nurse teams to provide education and coordination of patients with mammographic abnormality, abnormal breast findings or concerns. There is ample opportunity for collaboration and multi-disciplinary management of patients at increased risk of breast and other cancers throughout Mayo Clinic.

The Breast Clinic has multiple active Clinical Trials composed of national cooperative group, investigator initiated, and industry sponsored trials. The Clinic has robust research support staff, data analysts, and coordinators, and works closely with the other Mayo Clinic sites to leverage skills, resources and collaboration.

License or certification
Qualified candidates should be board-certified/board-eligible in internal medicine with a desire for scholarly activity. Preference will be given to those candidates with additional year(s) of training in advanced General Internal Medicine (Chief Residency or fellowship) or internal medicine practice experience. Research training through fellowship or a Master’s Degree program is desirable, but not a prerequisite for application.
