Responsibilities
As Laboratory Assistant Lead you will be an integral member of the team, responsible for assisting and working cooperatively with the management team in managing the duties and activities of Mayo Clinic Laboratories (MCL) Operations. You will facilitate the workflow by performing a variety of clerical and processing activities that include inventory, filing, stocking and rotating inventory. You will be involved in training, mentoring, and continuing education of staff and you will be required to maintain confidentiality of employee concerns and issues. Additional responsibilities are listed below:
- Actively partner with team members by fostering an inclusive work environment and respecting others with different backgrounds, experiences and perspectives.
- Performing pre-analytic specimen processing
- Ensuring correct patient identification on specimens and documentation and resolution of pre-analytic specimen-related issues
- Performing complex reagent preparation, managing work unit supply inventory and operating automated systems

*Individuals hired to this position are required to complete 2 years in this position before becoming eligible to transfer to other positions within Mayo Clinic.

Qualifications
To qualify for this position, you must meet the following requirements:
- Associate degree or
- High School

- Internal applicants must attach their three most recent performance appraisals to be considered for this position.
- Associate degree in a health or science field preferred.
- Previous experience with computers and keyboarding, telephone operations and other office equipment
- Conscientious
- Ability to shift gears to prioritize in a busy environment
- Ability to build relationships while bring candid, vocal, and honest when communicating (written and oral)
- Self-motivated and ambitious
- Flexible
- Ability to be attentive to and adhere to strict safety requirements for handling chemicals, reagents and infectious agents.

Compensation Detail
Education, experience and tenure may be considered along with internal equity when job offers are extended. The pay range for this position is $18.59 - $25.50.
