Position description
The Mayo Clinic Libraries seek an experienced and motivated interlibrary loan coordinator for its operation at Plummer Library in Rochester, Minnesota. The ideal candidate will have a comprehensive understanding of Docline, OCLC, and ILLiad. The candidate will also demonstrate close attention to detail, high-level writing skills, a strong commitment to customer service, and collaboration/management skills. This person will be responsible for providing cooperative leadership in daily interlibrary loan operations, including borrowing, lending, receiving, returning, billing, overdues management, and typical interlibrary loan troubleshooting. Other duties as assigned.

Under minimal supervision, the Library Specialist II coordinates multiple public, archival, or complex technical services responsibilities to serve library patrons and colleagues, using advanced skills. Coordinates tasks related to specialized aspects of the library/archive; interprets, develops and implements improvements in policies and work flow; assists patrons in the use of advanced library resources and handles complex requests; has achieved mastery (including problem-solving and development) of multiple advanced technological applications; mentors and trains other library/archive staff; creates procedure manuals and staff documentation; recommends materials for library collections; serves as a liaison between library units and vendors, publishers, suppliers and other libraries; demonstrates skills with financial functions, depending on library setting; and provides assistance to supervisor. Works independently when scheduled for evenings/weekends, depending on library site. May be responsible for a library facility, including opening/closing tasks, and emergency or security-related situations.

Qualifications
• Baccalaureate degree or equivalent library/archive education.
• Three years of experience as a Library Specialist I or equivalent experience in a library, archives, museum, or customer service environment.
• Advanced knowledge of library systems and multiple electronic applications.
• Knowledge and ability to cross-cover in other library work units.
• Excellent customer service and oral/written communication skills.
• Experience in leading others by example and taking on additionally progressive responsibilities, such as serving on special work groups or departmental task forces and participating in continuing education opportunities.

Additional qualifications
• Three years of experience working in a medical library, archives or health information environment.
• Participation in formal course work or continuing education related to libraries, archives, museums or customer service.
• Interest in pursuing advancement as a professional librarian, archivist, information scientist or similar career path.

Compensation Detail
Education, experience and tenure may be considered along with internal equity when job offers are extended. The minimum pay rate is $21.22 per hour.
