Mechanical Designers at Mayo Clinic partner with mechanical engineering and machine shop colleagues to develop one-of-a-kind devices in collaboration with world-class physicians and researchers. The Mechanical Designer: Designs and documents components and assemblies of biomedical-related engineering systems using SolidWorks CAD software. Works under general direction and supervision. Demonstrates advanced skills in 3-Dimensional Solid Modeling, part design and drafting, and a knowledge of ANSI standards. Is capable with dimensioning and tolerancing, including geometric dimensioning. Understands relevant components of the Division’s quality management system and participates in safety risk management activities. Demonstrates good written and verbal skills; regularly summarizes and communicates the results of work efforts to colleagues, project team members and management in a clear, concise and timely manner; accomplishes assigned tasks and manages multiple priorities. Is a self-starter who excels in a multi-disciplinary development environment both as an individual contributor and as a team member. Mentors less experienced staff.

Qualifications
2-year degree in CAD design or related field with 3 years' experience designing parts and assemblies using CAD software or Bachelors in Engineering Technology with experience in CAD design.

Additional qualifications
Experience working with machine shops is required. PC skills are required (Word, Excel, Power Point, etc.). Certified SolidWorks Professional (CSWP) certification preferred. Basic Mastercam or similar software skills required. Hands-on experience with designing for manufacturing is strongly preferred. Hands-on experience with a variety of traditional manufacturing techniques strongly preferred. CSWA is highly desirable.

Compensation Detail
Education, experience and tenure may be considered along with internal equity when job offers are extended.  The minimum salary every 2 weeks is approx $2,518.00, based on a full-time position.

Monday - Friday days. This position will be a combination of onsite in Rochester and telework. Employee must live within driving distance of Rochester, Minnesota, and able to report for work on-site with 24 hours notice.
