Position descriptionThe Radiation Oncology Advanced Practice Provider (APP) will work closely with a team of physicians, APPs, and registered nurses (RN) to care for patients receiving breast, lung, and stereotactic body radiation treatment (SBRT). The Breast/Lung/SBRT care team will be comprised of 6 MDs, 5 APPs, and 3 RNs.
The Breast/Lung/SBRT APP will have an opportunity for both collaborative and independent practice. APPs participate in the care of patients at time of consultation, throughout their radiation treatment course, and during survivorship/follow up care. Roles include comprehensive assessment and diagnosis, ordering and interpreting diagnostic tests, prescription of pharmacologic and non-pharmacologic therapies, comprehensive patient education, and psychosocial support of the patient and family experiencing cancer.
APPs in Radiation Oncology can grow professionally through quality improvement projects, research, committee work, precepting students, and teaching in the Mayo Clinic Health Sciences radiation therapy program. There are numerous educational opportunities within the department.
Benefit-eligible employees (50-100% FTE) receive up to 7 trip days (commensurate with time away from practice as approved off the schedule by a supervisor) and an annual allotment of $4,400.

QualificationsMasters prepared graduate of an accredited school of nursing and Nurse Practitioner program. Current Minnesota RN license and certification as a FNP, ANP or ACNP. DNP preferred.
Or graduate of accredited Physician Assistant program with current PA certification by NCCPA and registration as a PA by the Minnesota State Board of Medical Practice.
Must be eligible for DEA registration.
