Responsibilities
Mayo Clinic in Rochester, MN is seeking a flexible and enthusiastic family or child/adolescent psychiatric nurse practitioner or clinical nurse specialist (NP or CNS) to work with children and adolescents in the multidisciplinary Integrated Behavioral Health Division (IBH). Professional responsibilities include in-person and telemedicine psychiatric evaluations, medication management, curbside consultations and treatment referrals focused on improving behavioral health outcomes of children and adolescents in the primary care outpatient settings. They will also have the opportunity to work closely with Nurse Care Coordinators in the Collaborative Care Model. The NP/CNS works collaboratively in the Integrated Behavioral Health primary care practice as part of a multi-specialty team with Primary Care Providers, Psychiatrists, Psychologists, Social Workers, RN Care Coordinators, and other allied health staff. Practice locations may vary based upon patient and care team needs and may include any of the Mayo Clinic Rochester/Kasson Primary Care locations. The mission of the IBH division is to improve behavioral health outcomes for our primary care population of over 156,000 patients by increasing access, reducing stigma and providing cost effective evidence-based behavioral health services in the primary care setting. The division is implementing innovative treatment models and systematically studying outcomes to improve care, support dissemination, and share with other healthcare organizations via scholarly activity. Opportunities for scholarship and clinical teaching are available for interested candidates.
Qualifications
Masters prepared graduate of an accredited school of nursing and Nurse Practitioner or Clinical Nurse Specialist program. Current Minnesota RN license and certification (or eligible to be certified) as a Family or Child/Adolescent Psychiatric Nurse Practitioner or Clinical Nurse Specialist (certification must be obtained prior to employment date). Master’s Degree with a major in nursing with a clinical nurse specialist or nurse practitioner focus. Basic Cardiac Life Support (BCLS) competency. Has obtained prescriptive authority in the State of Minnesota. Current RN license to practice in Minnesota. Certification in designated specialty by a nationally recognized body deemed acceptable by the Minnesota State Board of Nursing.
Work experience in a psychiatric setting and 2-3 years of psychiatric prescribing practice to children/adolescents preferred. Experience in primary care settings is a plus. A Doctorate of Nursing Practice (DNP) is desirable, but not required. Demonstrated leadership ability and interpersonal effectiveness. Flexibility to adjust schedule to meet patient needs and NP/CNS workload. Ability to adapt to fluid clinical situations within the patient care setting, and manage time effectively.
