Responsibilities
The heart care practice at Mayo Clinic in Minnesota is one of the broadest and largest in the world. Members of the Department of Cardiovascular Diseases care for approximately 55,000 patients annually. Patients have access to cardiologists in 26 dedicated clinics and laboratories who specialize in the diagnosis and treatment of more than 120 cardiovascular diseases and conditions. This clinic based provider will work collaboratively within interprofessional teams including consultants, cardiology fellows, medical residents, nurses, and NP PA colleagues.
The Cardiovascular (CV) Structural Interventional Advanced Practice Provider (APP) is adept at evaluating and managing valve/structural patients in the clinic setting. This fast-paced, dynamic practice provides care to patients with cardiac structural disorders, as well as those requiring structural procedures such as TAVR, MitraClip, PVL, LAAO. The APP is responsible for pre-appointment care coordination as well as pre-procedure evaluation as part of a multidisciplinary team.
Provision of care includes but is not limited to excellent communication skills to liaise with team members, comprehensive assessment and physical examination of patients with heart disease, ordering and interpretation of diagnostic tests such as CXR, EKG, CT, echocardiogram (with support). APPs are also expected to serve as mentors, and to participate in clinical improvement and research projects as appropriate to the clinical setting. The APP would be expected to participate in institutional, divisional, departmental meetings, conferences, and committees as appropriate and scholarly activities.
Qualifications
Masters prepared graduate of an accredited school of nursing and Nurse Practitioner. Current Minnesota RN license and certification as a FNP or ANP.
Or graduate of an accredited Physician Assistant program with current PA certification by NCCPA and licensure as a PA by the Minnesota Board of Medical Practice.
Must be eligible for DEA registration and billing privileges.
Cardiology experience preferred.
