Responsibilities
The Mayo Clinic Children’s Center seeks a physician assistant or nurse practitioner to work as part of a multidisciplinary team in the Pediatric Aerodigestive Clinic. The Aerodigestive Clinic is organized with an innovative practice model to care for children with complex feeding, swallowing and breathing disorders in an efficient way that is patient centered. Candidates should be committed to caring for children and to working as an integral member of a multidisciplinary team. The team is comprised of physicians from ENT surgery, Gastroenterology, and Pulmonology, as well as one Advanced Practice Provider, nurses, therapists, and dietitians, all caring for children with aerodigestive disorders. The NP PA role will be primarily based in the outpatient clinic along with weekly time in the OR/procedure suite for discussing real-time findings with proceduralists and patient families. The NP PA is the designated coordinating clinician in the Aerodigestive Clinic. The NP PA will provide longitudinal care for these children including comprehensive physical assessment and evaluation, establishing treatment goals, coordination of procedures and diagnostic testing, leading multi-specialty team conferences, educating families, communicating with local providers, educating residents and fellows rotating through the clinic, and participating in research if desired. The Aerodigestive Clinic has been in existence for more than 10 years and has been recognized for its innovative care model and for strongly positive patient and family satisfaction.
Qualifications
Masters prepared graduate of an accredited school of nursing and Nurse Practitioner program. Current Minnesota RN and APRN license and certification as an FNP or PNP.
Or graduate of an accredited Physician Assistant program with current PA certification by the NCCPA and registration as a PA with the Minnesota State Board of Medical Practice.
BLS certification and DEA registration required.
Prefer candidate with experience in PICU, NICU, or Surgery experience
