Position description
Responsibilities
The Division of Computational Biology, within the Department of Quantitative Health Sciences, is seeking a highly motivated Computational Biologist to join a highly dynamic research program within the Mayo Clinic Kogod Center on Aging. The Division of Computational Biology consists of a large group of scientists who are focused on developing and applying advanced analytical methods across broad areas of medicine. Within the Center on Aging, the candidate will be a key member of an interdisciplinary team that leverages high-throughput sequencing utilizing bulk and single cell RNAseq, proteomic analyses, including single cell proteomics by mass cytometry, as well as spatial transcriptomics and proteomics, to study the biology of aging and aging-related diseases in preclinical models and humans. The candidate will develop and apply bioinformatic and statistical methods to interpret genomic, epigenomic, and transcriptomic data related to aging and will work closely with a highly collaborative team of molecular, computational, and clinical researchers. The successful candidate will contribute to clinical translational studies in a well-established and highly successful research environment and become a member of a cutting-edge computational team.

Qualifications
The ideal candidate will hold a Ph.D. in Bioinformatics, Computational Biology, Computer Science, or Statistics. The candidate will possess expertise in the analysis of next generation sequencing data and the use of bioinformatics tools accompanied by a relevant publication record. Familiarity with statistical methods and machine learning and fluency in programming languages such as Perl, Python and R will be key to success. Experience working in a Unix/Linux environment and high-performance computing, experience with algorithm development, and a strong commitment to reproducible research is required as well.

The Division of Computational Biology
Collaborative Scientists in the Division of Computational Biology lead study design, data acquisition, analysis, and interpretation of results, as part of multi-disciplinary teams. We are essential members of clinical, basic, and translational research programs and provide leadership in our area of expertise. We lead analytic teams consisting of bioinformaticians, biostatisticians, and statistical programmers. In addition to serving as Co-Investigators, Collaborative Scientists may also hold grants as Principal Investigators.

The Division of Computational Biology leads research in statistical genomics, bioinformatics and computational biology, developing and applying innovative analytical techniques for biomedical discovery and translational research across a range of medical conditions. Our division partners with scientists and clinicians throughout Mayo Clinic to carry out cutting-edge research to enhance the understanding of disease and improve health care.
Key areas of research in the division encompass analysis of biological data including genomics and transcriptomics; epigenomics; proteomics; metabolomics; microbiome; and digital pathology and imaging. For more information, please visit the Mayo Clinic Division of Computational Biology web site.

The Robert and Arlene Kogod Center on Aging
The Robert and Arlene Kogod Center on Aging brings together clinicians and scientists from all departments across Mayo Clinic in a unique collaboration that leads to innovative ways of studying aging. The goal of the Kogod Center on Aging is to discover interventions that target fundamental aging processes, including cellular senescence, inflammation, macromolecular dysfunction, and stem and progenitor cell dysfunction and to translate these findings into clinical interventions to delay, prevent, or alleviate age-related chronic diseases, loss of resilience, and geriatric syndromes as a group, instead of one-at-a-time.

Applications
Applications should include a full CV/Bibliography, statement of research interests, statement of contribution to diversity/equity/inclusion, and the names/contact information of five references.
