Position description
Candidates are sought for a Research Associate position under the supervision of Dr. Sean Phelan. The focus of this position is on health equity and/or health care quality/outcomes for members of stigmatized or marginalized groups, such as people with larger bodies, people with minoritized racial or ethnic identities, people with minoritized gender identities or sexual orientations, etc.
Candidates with backgrounds in public health or a social science discipline such as psychology, communication studies, or sociology with an interest in applying their skillset to a healthcare setting are encouraged to apply. The preferred candidate will have experience or interest in working with multidisciplinary teams to design and carry out research aimed at improving health care access, quality, and outcomes. Individuals with survey research experience and training in quantitative and/or qualitative research methodologies are welcome to apply.
The position will consist of a mixture of collaboration on on-going studies as well as opportunities for the postdoc to develop complementary research projects and proposals.
A Research Associate at Mayo Clinic is a temporary transitional role with the primary purpose to allow qualified individuals to work within an established investigator’s program in preparation for an academic and/or independent research career. The ability to perform specialized or complex functions would typically be demonstrated through review of scientific accomplishments, contributions, and peer-reviewed publications averaging at least one per year post doctoral degree. The Research Associate is expected to provide leadership support and training within an established research program.

- Current curriculum vitae with bibliography
- Proof of doctoral degree (copy of diploma or final transcript with English translation, if applicable) or a letter from your university's Registrar office indicating you have fulfilled all doctoral program requirements and are eligible to graduate.
Qualifications
Must have a Ph.D., M.D. or equivalent doctoral degree in public health or a social science discipline such as psychology, communication studies, or sociology with an interest in applying their skillset to a healthcare setting are encouraged to apply.
