Position Description: Dr. Anand Padmanabhan’s Platelet Immunology Laboratory in the Department of Laboratory Medicine and Pathology (DLMP) at Mayo Clinic in Rochester, Minnesota is seeking a Research Technologist with background/expertise in chemistry/biochemistry/biology. Dr. Padmanabhan’s research in the area of platelet immunology, with a focus on heparin-induced thrombocytopenia (HIT), vaccine-induced immune thrombotic thrombocytopenia (VITT), and monoclonal gammopathy of thrombotic significance (MGTS), a new thrombophilia that they have recently described, utilizes various molecular and biochemical tools to enhance the understanding of disease and advance its diagnosis and treatment. Recent research from this group have led to a better understanding of disease pathogenesis, diagnosis and treatment and published in leading journals Blood, AJH and CHEST (e.g. PMIDs: 36626584, 35998675, 35560046, 28427966). This position is currently available. A Bachelor’s degree in Chemistry/Biology is required Critical thinking, curiosity, strong work ethic, communication skills and the ability to work well with others both within and outside the group is required. Sets up and performs routine and established lab procedures in support of lab goals, grant commitments, i.e. assays, cell/tissue culture, animal studies, etc. Monitors results, reports unusual outcomes and suggests modifications. Collects, enters and summarizes data. Assists in the maintenance of lab equipment and supplies. Performs basic statistical data analysis; prepares tables/charts/graphs and assists in organizing data. Presents at research laboratory meetings and contributes to writing of manuscripts. Works under supervision and may perform some assignments independently as discussed and approved by Principal Investigator.
Requires bachelor's degree in biology, chemistry, other relevant science, or an associates degree with 6 years of relevant laboratory experience. Must exhibit a solid understanding of lab techniques, equipment, and safety. Must have the ability to organize and carry out laboratory techniques independently and in a team setting. Experience with basic data analysis is required. This position requires demonstrated writing skills.
26.12-39.18 / hour; Education, experience and tenure may be considered along with internal equity when job offers are extended.
Monday - Friday; 9:00 am - 5:00 pm
