Responsibilities

The Tissue Registry Tech is responsible for reviewing all pathology reports and selects relevant Systematized Nomenclature Of medicine (SNOMED) codes based on tissue site and diagnosis. The Tissue Registry Tech is also responsible for performing a variety of clerical and processing duties that include pulling and filing of tissue (fresh and formalin fixed), glass slides, and paraffin blocks. Other duties may include maintaining supply inventory, stocking, receiving shipments, and cleaning. The Tissue Registry Tech works with various computer information systems on a daily basis. The Tissue Registry Tech needs to be able to handle fresh and formalin fixed tissue, organs, and amputations for archival purposes. Requires the ability to be attentive to details and to adhere to strict safety requirements for handling hazardous chemicals and infectious agents. *Individuals hired to this position are asked to complete 2 years in the role before being eligible to transfer to other positions within Mayo Clinic*



Qualifications

A high school diploma or equivalent is required. Knowledge of medical terminology, and a background in science or 1-2 years of medical experience is preferred, but not required. Previous experience or knowledge of computers and keyboarding, telephone operations and other office equipment desired. The ability to accurately read specimen labels and work with numbers to ensure positive patient identification. Must be organized, able to prioritize and work in a self-disciplined environment. Must possess good human relations skills and be able to communicate effectively both orally and in written form. Must be able to work independently as well in a team environment.

**This position is not eligible for visa sponsorship. Also, Mayo Clinic DOES NOT participate in the F-1 STEM OPT extension program**

  • Evaluation MUST be completed from an organization listed as a member of the National Association of Credential Evaluation Services (NACES) www.naces.org OR the Association of International Credential Evaluators, Inc. (AICE) www.aice-eval.org

*Non-DLMP Internal applicants that have been in their current department/position for less than 1 year must attach early release approval from supervisor
