Position description
The Research Support Specialist (RSS) provides both editorial and technical assistance to physicians and research investigators, which includes editing, reference verification, manuscript formatting and grant document proof reading. The Specialist edits and manages the components of a grant application with direction from Principal Investigators, complying with regulatory laws and institutional guidelines. The RSS will focus primarily on the National Institutes of Health (NIH) and other federal funding grant applications. The RSS will also be an institutional resource funding agency document and formatting requirements for federal grant submissions.

The position is currently teleworking. Research Administration Leadership has not yet determined if this will be permanent. Individual’s teleworking may be expected to travel to one of the main Mayo campuses for work, meetings, training, or other activities on a scheduled or periodic basis.

Preference will be given to those who live near the FL, AZ, or RST campus.

Qualifications
A Bachelor's degree is required; and minimum of one year experience in a similar research environment. Strong organizational skills are required.

Preference given to those with experience with federal and foundation grant applications.
Additional qualifications
Must be able to manage deadlines and multiple complex projects. Applicants must be highly motivated, have the ability to learn quickly. Must have excellent writing and communication skills and be able to express ideas clearly and logically in a variety of media. Requires knowledge of computer software for combining text with graphics and the ability to manage large, complex and interconnected files.

Compensation Detail
Education, experience and tenure may be considered along with internal equity when job offers are extended. The minimum pay rate is $19.79 per hour.
