The aide assists patients with delegated tasks of direct and indirect patient care, which includes providing personal care and assistance in activities of daily living. In the home environment, these services are included in a written plan of care prepared by a health care professional and signed by a physician. The aide works under the direct supervision of a Registered Nurse and/or when appropriate a Physical, Occupational or Speech Therapist under the delegation of their License. When working within the hospital campus, under the direct supervision of a registered nurse, the aide carries out designated activities which support nursing practice that are within those functions limited by law to unlicensed nursing personnel. This includes assisting patients with activities of daily living, providing basic nursing care to patients and assisting in the maintenance of a safe and clean environment. Assists RN with procedures and treatments that require competence in advanced technical and manual skills.
High school graduate or equivalent within one year of hire.
Minimum of six months healthcare related experience preferred. Ability to read and communicate effectively in English. Flexibility (works flexible hours, which include days, evenings, nights, holidays, and weekends). Basic computer skills and experience with other technological devices (i.e. smart phones, tablets, etc.). Verbal and written communication. Promotes team building. Self-directed. Able to adapt to unpredictable situations. Able and willing to drive in all weather conditions and cover service area. Able and willing to work with all populations served.
License or certification
Valid driver's license, reliable transportation, the ability to transport patients and acceptable driving record as defined by policy. Meets Federal and State guidelines required to work as a Home Health Aide in a certified licensed Home Health agency and Certified Nursing Assistant, on State of Wisconsin Registry or current Wisconsin EMT (Basic, Intermediate, or Paramedic) certification. Current BLS Certification.
Education, experience and tenure may be considered along with internal equity when job offers are extended. The minimum pay rate is $15.54 per hour.
Hours / Pay period
64 hours every two week pay period
8 and 12 hours shifts, primarily daytime hours with occasional evening and night responsibilities.
Rotating every 3-4th weekend based on the department need.
