The Associate Chief Pharmacy Officer for Clinical Practice and Research is responsible for all clinical pharmacy and pharmacy-based research programs. This individual is a recognized pharmacy leader and provides strong, visible, values driven leadership and advocacy for clinical pharmacy and research. Develops and ensures a comprehensive inpatient and outpatient clinical pharmacy program that incorporates best practices and emphasizes the safety and optimized outcomes of our patients. Develops and ensures a comprehensive clinical pharmacy program that delivers the highest value care to our patients and the organization. Develops and supports a pharmacy-based research program. Ensures incorporation, alignment with and support of the departmental and institutional strategic vision, direction and priorities. Assures all quality, legal, regulatory and accreditation standards are met or exceeded. Actively participates in and supports pharmacy education programs and scholarly activity.
This position can be based within reasonable driving distance from any Mayo Clinic location - Rochester, MN, Jacksonville, FL, or Phoenix, AZ.
Graduate of an accredited College of Pharmacy. Doctor of Pharmacy degree. Completion of a PGY2 pharmacy residency and a minimum of 6 years applicable pharmacy leadership experience; or completion of an accredited PGY1 pharmacy residency and a minimum of 8 years applicable pharmacy leadership experience; or a minimum of 10 years applicable pharmacy leadership experience. Applicable experience includes providing, developing, implementing and overseeing progressive clinical pharmacy services in an integrated healthcare system. Strong commitment and evidence of achieving excellence. Proven history of successfully working in a team environment. Communicates effectively. Proven history of a commitment to patient care and alignment with Mayo Clinic values. Mayo Clinic Quality Program Silver level within 1 year.
The following are preferred: Research experience as a research investigator or leading a pharmacy-based research program. Master’s degree in Public Health, Health Administration or Business Administration. Completion of leadership or management educational programs (e.g. ASHP leadership program, Mayo programs). History of active participation and leadership in pharmacy professional organizations. Academic ranking at minimum of Assistant Professor level or higher.
License or certification
Current license to practice Pharmacy in at least one state where a Mayo facility is located.
Education, experience and tenure may be considered along with internal equity when job offers are extended.
