Disassembles, cleans, prepares, sterilizes and distributes trays, instruments and equipment according to prescribed policies and procedures. Cleans, prepares, and performs high level disinfection of instruments and equipment according to policies and procedures. Monitors and documents all chemical, mechanical and biological indicators to ensure sterility. Assists in maintaining department inventory and equipment utilizing instrument tracking system. Dispenses surgical and procedural supplies and equipment to the operating rooms, procedural areas, and clinical locations.
High School diploma or equivalent. Ability to read and communicate effectively in English. Willingness to accept new ideas and work under stressful conditions. Basic computer knowledge.
Successful completion of a vocational program for Sterile Processing preferred. Sterile processing and/or healthcare experience in a hospital setting preferred.
License or certification
IAHCSMN Certification as a Central Processing Technician (CRCST) within 24 months of hire.
Education, experience and tenure may be considered along with internal equity when job offers are extended. The minimum pay rate is $15.24 per hour.
Hours / Pay period
40 hours every two week pay period
Shifts are Monday-Friday 0700-1530, 0730-1600, but will be adjusted to cover the needs of the department.
This position is required to float across the region to meet the needs of the departments.
