Position description
Responsible for day to day oversight of construction projects at Charter House with direction and approval from Charter House Facilities Services Director. This includes, but not limited to monitoring progress of projects, scheduling of work and contractors and Charter House employees, completing projects on time, ordering materials, bill reconciliation, project account management, proponent billing, meeting with project proponents. Must understand basics of building construction such as, but not limited to types of drywall, GFCI outlet requirements, sprinkler regulations, plumbing fixtures. The construction coordinator must be able to assist and work along side staff members during peak work periods or special projects. Also works with the Director of Facilities to ensure that appropriate resources are utilized and in-house services are used when ever possible. In addition to the above listed duties of the position, there are shared responsibilities with the Facilities Coordinator. This includes answering phones, dispatching facilities work orders, and assisting the Director of Facilities Services and Charter House Maintenance Supervisor with special projects and assignments.

The construction coordinator candidate must be proficient in the use of computers and use of Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook, and Access. Must understand accounting/billing software and simple accounting principles and practices.

The construction coordinator candidate must possess personal philosophies, attitudes, and behaviors which respect the privacy and individuality of residents, staff, and guests. The construction coordinator must be able to effectively communicate both written and verbally with residents, staff, and guests. This person must also demonstrate leadership, problem solving, and organizational abilities. The candidate must adhere to the mission and philosophies of Charter House and Mayo Clinic.

High school diploma or GED required, two year associates degree in construction management or similar field preferred but not necessary. Experience in construction, project management, and bookkeeping/accounting is desired in the candidate. Candidate must posses have strong computer knowledge and leadership skills as well as good customer service/communication skills. Must be able to communicate with different types of personalities and work with an older adult population. Must be fluent in English both written and spoken.
Additional qualifications
Experience in long term care and/or heath care environments is desirable for the position.

Compensation Detail
Education, experience and tenure may be considered along with internal equity when job offers are extended. The minimum pay rate is $15.69 per hour.
