Work unit test developer/innovator who develops, innovates, adapts, validates, and implements novel/new tests, methodologies, technologies, or products for the laboratory under the intellectual and scientific guidance of laboratory directors and principal developers. Responsible for improvement of existing methods or implementation of novel technology of proven validity within the work unit. Organizes new method validation data, prepares data for publication and peer review, and participates in formal presentations. Actively partner with team members by fostering an inclusive work environment and respecting others with different backgrounds, experiences and perspectives.
The Clinical Biochemistry and Immunology Division's development team draws upon the expertise of mass spectrometry and immunoassay specialists focused in Endocrine, Immunology, Toxicology, Metals, and Therapeutic Drug Monitoring areas to create new tests at the forefront of clinician needs
**A two-year commitment to this position is required**
Bachelor's degree in clinical laboratory science (CLS/MLS), medical technology (MT), chemistry, biological science from an accredited institution, or bachelor's degree from an accredited institution in addition to a certificate in MLS. In histopathology or non-testing laboratories, a bachelor's degree with laboratory certification if applicable. Two years' relevant laboratory experience required. A HEW certificate may be substituted for the specified degree. Other clinical laboratory specialty certificates will be reviewed and approved on a case-by-case basis.

Master's degree from an accredited institution in chemical, physical, biological, clinical laboratory science or medical technology or Doctoral degree (PhD) in chemistry or a biological science preferred. Self motivated, highly organized, efficient, and able to work independently exercising strong decision-making skills. Excellent written and verbal communication skills are necessary. Capable of reproducing a reference method using available procedures without supervision. Demonstrated analytical and scientific competency with development and/or validation of lab techniques or procedures. Experience with data collection, organization, analysis and delivery of information.
Superior analytical and scientific competence with laboratory procedures is necessary. Experience with a variety of analytical techniques and laboratory validations is preferred. Experience using Inductively Coupled Plasma Mass Spectrometry (ICP-MS ) is preferred.

License or certification
ASCP or other certification pertinent to the laboratory field may be required depending on the laboratory specialty and prevailing regulatory requirements.
Education, experience and tenure may be considered along with internal equity when job offers are extended. The minimum salary every 2 weeks is approx $2,444.00, based on a full-time position.
Monday - Friday, Days; times may vary depending on project needs.
Weekend Schedule varies depending on instrument availability and project.
