Work unit test developer/innovator who develops, innovates, evaluates, and implements novel/new tests, methodologies, technologies, or products for the laboratory under the intellectual and scientific guidance of laboratory directors and [DT3]. Responsible for improvement of existing methods or implementation of novel technology of proven validity within the work unit. Organizes new method validation data, prepares data for publication and peer review, and participates in formal presentations.
**A two-year commitment to this position is required**
Bachelor's degree in clinical laboratory science (CLS/MLS), medical technology (MT), chemistry, biological science from an accredited institution, or bachelor's degree from an accredited institution in addition to a certificate in MLS. In histopathology or non-testing laboratories, a bachelor's degree with laboratory certification if applicable. Two years' relevant laboratory experience required. A HEW certificate may be substituted for the specified degree. Other clinical laboratory specialty certificates will be reviewed and approved on a case-by-case basis.

Master's degree from an accredited institution in chemical, physical, biological, clinical laboratory science or medical technology or Doctoral degree (PhD) in chemistry or a biological science preferred. Self motivated, highly organized, efficient, and able to work independently exercising strong decision-making skills. Excellent written and verbal communication skills are necessary. Capable of reproducing a reference method using available procedures without supervision. Demonstrated analytical and scientific competency with development and/or validation of lab techniques or procedures. Experience with data collection, organization, analysis and delivery of information.
Experience and extensive knowledge of mass spectrometry, have an understanding of analyte vs enzyme, metabolome vs. proteome, and an interest in bioinformatics/multivariate pattern recognition software (CLIR). The ideal candidate will have taken on additional tasks within their current role that has demonstrated their wiliness to go above and beyond their routine duties. Examples would be verification/validation of new instruments, new reagents, new software etc.

- Evaluation MUST be completed from an organization listed as a member of the National Association of Credential Evaluation Services (NACES) www.naces.org OR the Association of International Credential Evaluators, Inc. (AICE) www.aice-eval.org

License or certification
ASCP or other certification pertinent to the laboratory field may be required depending on the laboratory specialty and prevailing regulatory requirements.
Education, experience and tenure may be considered along with internal equity when job offers are extended. The minimum salary every 2 weeks is approx $2,444.00, based on a full-time position.
Monday-Friday, Dayshift; other hours as needed.
May split time between campus and working from home remotely less than 50%
