Position description
The Department of Physiology and Biomedical Engineering is seeking an energetic and innovative investigator in the broad area of Cellular Engineering. The successful candidate will introduce, advance and implement novel engineering approaches to modulating cellular behavior towards the study of human health and disease. The candidate will be expected to establish an internationally-recognized research program that emphasizes trans-disciplinary collaboration between scientists, clinician investigators and clinicians in the department as well as in relevant clinical and basic science departments and centers from across the institution. Alignment with existing strengths in immunology, cancer biology, regenerative medicine, and tissue engineering is preferred, but all relevant areas of basic and translational research in cellular engineering will be considered. Applicants developing and employing novel approaches toward human translational cellular therapies, including immuno-engineering and stem cell engineering will be prioritized.

Credentials of a successful candidate will include a doctoral degree (Ph.D., M.D., Sc.D., or equivalent) with background in a relevant science and/or engineering field (e.g. biomedical engineering, cell biology, immunology, physiology, nanotechnology). Applications from emerging investigators are welcome, as are applications from more established investigators for whom a record of extramural funding consistent with or preferably exceeding the candidate’s career stage is expected. Candidates should exhibit evidence of leadership skills and multidisciplinary and interdisciplinary collaborations. Consideration will be given to candidates at the Assistant, Associate and Full Professor level.

Applications should include a cover letter, CV and research statement.
