Position description
Mayo Clinic in Rochester, MN is pleased to announce a Genetic Counselor opportunity in the Center for Individualized Medicine (CIM). This position will be critical to making Mayo Clinic a global leader in a new era of health care that focuses on genomic medicine. The selected candidate will participate in the development and implementation of genetic counseling services in the advancement and translation of personalized genomic medicine. Specifically, they will work as part of a team delivering clinical genetic counseling within a predictive genomics clinic and participate in research pilots that study the implementation of predictive genomics into clinical care. They will help develop tools and processes necessary to promote the integration of personalized medicine across a broad range of clinical disciplines. This is a unique opportunity for a genetic counselor to translate their knowledge of clinical and laboratory practice into the exciting and rapidly advancing field of Individualized Medicine.
Master of Science or Master of Arts in Genetic Counseling granted by a genetic counseling program accredited by the American Board of Genetic Counseling (ABGC) required. Eligible for active candidate status as defined by ABGC or board certified by the American Board of Medical Genetics (ABMG) or the American Board of Genetic Counseling (ABGC) necessary. Certification must be attained within 2 years of start date. Genetic counselors residing in the state of Minnesota or providing direct patient care to patients in the state of Minnesota must be licensed by the state of Minnesota.
Additional qualifications
Professional knowledge of the rapidly changing principles and practice of medical, clinical, and laboratory genetics required. Must have effective oral and written presentation and communication skills, superior organizational skills and be able to work independently. Computer skills appropriate for laboratory and clinical case management necessary.

Compensation Detail
Education, experience and tenure may be considered along with internal equity when job offers are extended.  The minimum salary every 2 weeks is approx $2,832.80, based on a full-time position.
