Position description
This posting is to hire a 0.8 FTE and 0.6 FTE as either a Histotechnologist or Histotechnician.

Training provided in Rochester, MN for those without MOHS experience.


Histotechnologist: Non - exempt position. The histology laboratory contributes a valuable service to help pathologists provide patient diagnoses. The histotechnologist prepares tissues for microscopic diagnosis by a Pathologist utilizing a variety of manual, semi-automated and automated technologies. The histotechnologist is responsible for maintaining the integrity of tissue through the pre-analytic to post-analytic phase in the Anatomic Pathology laboratory. The histotechnologist is responsible for producing slides of good to superior quality and works closely with the Surgeon/Pathologist to provide slides in an efficient and timely manner.

Qualifications
Histotechnologist: Bachelor's degree. Completion of a clinical practicum in an Anatomic Pathology laboratory.

Histotechnician: HTL - Associate Degree, HT certificate or board eligible. Candidates who have education/work experience and are registry eligible and/or have obtained their HT/HTL certification are considered to have met the education requirement. Completion of a clinical practicum in an Anatomic Pathology laboratory. Computer skills. Must be highly organized, efficient, detail oriented and capable of multi-tasking. Ability to work independently. Must possess good manual dexterity. Ability to communicate in English, both verbally and written. Must possess problem solving skills. Mohs Certificate is acceptable in place of HTL.
Additional qualifications
Histotechnologist: Graduate of a NAACLS accredited program preferred. Graduates of the Mayo School of Health Sciences Histology Technician Program will receive preference.
License or certification
Histotechnologist: HTL or equivalent. Must obtain registry within six months of becoming registry eligible upon employment, initial certification is required to demonstrate competency, but ongoing maintenance is not required ongoing maintenance is not required.

Histotechnician: Must obtain registry within six months of becoming registry eligible upon employment, initial certification is required to demonstrate competency, but ongoing maintenance is not required ongoing. Mohs certificate is acceptable in place of HTL.

Compensation Detail
Education, experience and tenure may be considered along with internal equity when job offers are extended. The minimum pay rate is $22.53 per hour.
