Investigates new/emerging technologies, innovations and opportunities for implementation/adaptations to divisional work streams and challenges the status quo. Works strategically to initiate and deliver innovative technologies, concepts and projects from concept to a sustainable operational function. Builds and creates interest in innovation projects within the operational teams. Increases the value of human capital by driving the implementation of innovative technologies.
Seeks and investigates new/emerging technologies, innovations and opportunities, gathers insight increasing division knowledge. Identifies innovative technologies addressing divisional need needs such as increasing efficiencies, reducing operational costs, and supporting Mayo Clinic environmental sustainability initiatives. Presents emerging technologies/concepts to Section Heads, Operations Mangers, Unit Heads, and Supervisors.
Organizes and facilitates ideation sessions to learn divisional/customer needs. Generate, filter and lead implementation of least two concepts per year. Develop and manage conceptual prototypes into fully integrated and operational models. Maintain project records and electronically file. Regular reporting of project status. Coordinate and lead divisional teams to manage innovation activities/projects. Manage the transition of innovative projects to operational team. Attends appropriate Team meetings and provides initial support ensuring full adoption of project.
Implements metrics ensuring developed concepts obtain intended effectiveness/value. Keep up to date with latest technological developments, through attendance at trade shows, talking to universities, and attending internal and external training where appropriate. Partners and collaborates with Mayo Clinic departments and content experts such as Infection Prevention & Control, Office of Sustainability, Mayo Clinic Platform, etc. Collaborates and communicates with innovation sources and industry leaders.
Bachelor’s degree in Electrical, Mechanical Engineering, Innovation, or related field and 5 years’ experience in an applicable product development, automation, systems integration, or equivalent required. Must be self-driven and able to work independently and as a member of a team. Ability to recognize divisional/customer needs to meet goals and objectives. Good communications skills and computer literate and highly developed interpersonal skills. Must be willing to travel. Experience with software development and applications required.
Preferred: Engineering graduate training program or master’s degree in Entrepreneurship, Innovation. Competent in the use of applicable design technologies. Programming experience. Tinker, inventor, creative thinker.
Education, experience and tenure may be considered along with internal equity when job offers are extended. The minimum salary every 2 weeks is approx $3,284.80, based on a full-time position.
Typically Monday through Friday 8:00am to 5:00pm
