Position description
This is a full time telework internship within the United States.

IT Department seeking an IT Intern. The internship opportunity is for a student's learning opportunity. The employment is part time, temporary, and non-benefits-eligible classification, with the flexibility to work up to 40 hours per week.

The internship incumbent should have a good understanding of .Net /WPF and/or Java/Web development. Database knowledge is recommended – preferably in Oracle. Candidate should have demonstrated ability to solve complex technical problems with multiple computing technologies and have ability to learn new ones. Candidate should be ready and eager to quickly learn a new environment, new tools and system designs. We would expect a positive, can-do attitude to complement examples of good teamwork.

The primary purpose of the Internship is to provide an intern with relevant field experiences in their chosen field of study. One or more mentors will be assigned to the intern to provide instruction, guidance and to assess performance. The Cardiology Systems Unit is seeking an intern to partner with a team to assist with support of the Echo Cardiology practice. The candidate will have opportunities to work directly with senior technical resources while sharing programming tasks as well as learning about the project approval process. The candidate will gain an understanding of development within an existing system adding new enhancements to the application as designed. Expectation will be to perform additional job-related functions as detailed by immediate supervisor. The intern will be responsible for completing all internship-related assignments and reports for both Mayo and the participating educational facility. The duration and timing of the internship will be arranged with the intern.

Qualifications
The incumbent must be enrolled in a bachelors, masters or graduate degree program from a college or university. Typically, this internship would occur after the student has taken most of the courses required by the degree program.

Where applicable - the degree program must require an internship as a graduation requirement (or offer as a credit option).
Additional qualifications
A good understanding of .Net and/or Java development is needed. Others helpful skills would include web development, an understanding of C# and ASP.NET MVC, WPF development, Hibernate and Spring. Database knowledge is recommended – preferably in MS SQL or Oracle. Experience with report development tools such as Crystal Reports or Tableau would be beneficial. Candidate should have demonstrated ability to solve complex technical problems with multiple computing technologies and have ability to learn new ones.

Work hours would be only Monday - Friday, no weekends.
